A Kamloops Dentist Welcoming Patients from Aberdeen

Digital intraoral scanning equipment at Blue Bird Dental in Kamloops

Aberdeen has grown quickly, and much of that growth has been households arriving from somewhere else — other parts of Kamloops, other parts of BC, other provinces entirely. One of the first errands on that list is finding a dentist.

Blue Bird Dental is not in Aberdeen. We are downtown, at 275 Lansdowne Street, on the hillside's opposite side of the valley floor. What we offer people making that trip is a practice where most of the work happens under one roof, which matters more than proximity if the alternative is being sent across the city for every second procedure.

A Comprehensive Dental Home

The frustration of piecemeal dentistry is being referred out constantly: one office for cleanings, another for the crown, somewhere else again for the implant. Our three dentists have restorative backgrounds, and the practice is equipped accordingly.

That means the same team who cleans your teeth also does the filling, the crown, the root canal and, in many cases, the implant. Your history stays in one chart, and the person recommending treatment is the person who will carry it out.

Family and Preventive Care

For households with school-age children, the basics are the point: examinations, cleanings, fluoride and sealants where indicated, and an eye on how adult teeth are arriving. Children’s Dentistry

Adults get the same attention paid to gum health, older fillings reaching the end of their life, and grinding, which is more common than most people realise. Teeth Grinding

Restorative Care and Single-Visit Crowns

A cracked or heavily filled tooth usually needs a crown. Traditionally that meant an impression, a temporary and a second appointment weeks later. With CEREC, when the case is suitable, the crown is designed, milled and bonded during the same visit. For a patient driving in from the hill, one appointment instead of two is the practical benefit. Root canals, bridges, dentures and implants are all provided here as well. Tooth Replacement

Invisalign and Cosmetic Dentistry

Clear aligners suit many adults and teenagers, though suitability depends on an orthodontic assessment rather than a preference. We will tell you plainly if braces would serve your case better. Invisalign

Veneers, whitening and composite bonding are available for patients whose concerns are about appearance. Cosmetic Dentistry

Technology Used Where It Helps

Cone beam 3D imaging is used when a case genuinely calls for it, particularly implant planning and complex diagnosis, rather than as routine. Digital scanning replaces impression trays for many procedures. The Solea laser can, for suitable procedures, reduce drill noise and sometimes the need for freezing. None of these guarantee an outcome; they widen what we can do comfortably and accurately. Our Technology

What a First Visit Actually Involves

New arrivals to a practice often expect a cleaning and get an examination instead, so it is worth setting out what happens.

Your first appointment is a full assessment. That means looking at every tooth and existing restoration, checking the gums properly rather than glancing at them, examining the bite and jaw joints, and carrying out an oral cancer screening, which takes about two minutes and is included as standard. Imaging is taken where it genuinely informs your care rather than by default.

Then you are shown what we found — on screen, using the intra-oral camera, rather than being told about it. If treatment is recommended, you receive a written estimate before anything is scheduled, including what your insurance is likely to contribute and which items could reasonably wait.

Depending on your gum health and the schedule that day, a hygiene appointment often happens at the same visit.

If You Are New to Kamloops

Aberdeen takes in a lot of households arriving from elsewhere, and moving cities usually means starting again with dental records.

Ask your previous dentist to forward your records; most practices do this on request and it saves repeating imaging unnecessarily. If you cannot reach them, that is not a barrier — we can assess from scratch. Bring your insurance details either way, and mention anything you have been told previously about grinding, gum treatment or teeth being watched.

Getting Here from Aberdeen

Aberdeen sits on the hillside in the city's southwest, above the valley. The route down to the downtown core is straightforward, and travel time varies with your starting point, your route, the weather and traffic — noticeably so in winter, when the hill and the valley floor can be having quite different days. Frequently Asked Questions

Do you refer patients out for most procedures?

No. The majority of general, restorative and cosmetic treatment happens in our office. Where a specialist is genuinely the better option, we say so.

Can a crown really be finished in one appointment?

Often, when the case is suitable. Your dentist will confirm at the visit whether yours is.

What happens at a comprehensive examination?

A full look at teeth, gums, bite and existing dental work, an oral cancer screening, imaging where it informs your care, and a written plan with costs before anything is booked.

How do I find out whether Invisalign suits me?

Book an assessment. You will get an honest answer, including whether braces would work better. Invisalign

Do you see children as well as adults?

Yes, from a first visit through the teenage years and beyond.
