X-rays let us see what eyes cannot: decay between teeth, infection at root tips, bone levels, and problems developing beneath the surface. At Blue Bird Dental, every X-ray is digital, which changes the experience in three important ways.
Digital sensors are dramatically more sensitive than film, so a diagnostic-quality image requires only a small fraction of the exposure. We also follow the ALARA principle, prescribing X-rays only when they genuinely inform your care.
Images appear on the chairside monitor within seconds and can be enlarged, enhanced, and compared with previous visits, so nothing subtle slips by and you can see exactly what we see.
Comfortable sensors replace stiff film, there are no processing chemicals, and your records transfer electronically in minutes if you ever need a specialist.
It depends on your risk profile. A patient with a history of decay or gum disease may need check-up X-rays yearly; a patient with a long stable history may go considerably longer. Your dentist will recommend a schedule based on your mouth, not a blanket rule.
