What You Do at Home Matters Most

We see you two to four times a year. Your toothbrush sees you 730 times. That math is why home care, not the dental office, is where oral health is truly won, and why we coach it seriously at Blue Bird Dental.

Brushing That Actually Cleans

Twice daily, two minutes, with a soft brush and fluoride toothpaste. Angle the bristles 45 degrees toward the gumline, where plaque does its damage, and use small circular strokes rather than aggressive scrubbing, which wears enamel and recedes gums. Electric brushes with pressure sensors help most people clean better with less effort; ask us which model suits you. Replace your brush or head every three months, or after illness.

Cleaning Between Teeth

A brush physically cannot reach the surfaces between teeth, which is where most adult cavities and gum disease begin. Daily flossing, curved in a C against each tooth, or interdental brushes for larger spaces, or a water flosser for bridges and implants: the best tool is the one you will genuinely use every day.

The Habits Around the Habits

Sugar frequency matters more than quantity: sipping and grazing bathe teeth in acid all day. Rinse with water after acidic drinks and wait 30 minutes before brushing softened enamel. Dry mouth from medications sharply raises decay risk; tell us, as specific rinses and gels help. And nothing on this page compensates for tobacco.

Personalized at Every Cleaning

Generic advice only goes so far. At your hygiene visits we look at what plaque patterns, wear and gum response actually show, then tune your routine and products to your mouth. Teeth Cleaning
